Get College Going - February 2024 News

Raising children and worrying about the next generation is a huge challenge for parents as they work to balance life's financial and household needs. As parents myself, now a grandparent, the answer is yes, 100% we want the best for our children, regardless of their age and stature in life. We want them to know we LOVE them. But at what expense, emotionally and financially?

One area in particular, higher education, specifically college enrollment, is heavily influenced by the perils of our social environment. I see it daily in my private advising practice when speaking with families and monitoring the social narrative. Parents have a sense of failure if they cannot provide....the truth is we cannot. The risk to our students and family is too high.

Regardless of a family's socioeconomic status, finding the right pathway after high school to pursue education and financial stability in a career is the key. Let's celebrate individuality.

Education Benefits @ Work
The SECURE 2.0 ACT has changed the game of employer-based education assistance. As I wrote in a January article, it's no longer a landscape defined by tuition assistance, but now education benefits that address the needs of today's employees. Benefits that cover college planning services for parents, financial wellness enrichment, and resources to reduce education loan debt.
