Paul began his career as a registered representative for a Wall Street firm after graduating from UMass Dartmouth. As a Regional Vice President, he opened and managed up to five offices to accommodate and sustain the firm’s growth. After 12 years, Paul was recruited to implement a new broker-dealer platform for a regional bank with five branches.
Realizing that banking and investing are two different worlds, Paul returned to the retail side in the mid-1990s, serving as a financial consultant. He has seen many investment products created and offered, but too often the rationale for investing has been ill-timed or created to capitalize on a popular trend. Today is no different, with Alternative Investments, Exchange Traded Funds, Index Annuities, and related products. Investors’ optimism, which is already reflected in the market, often blurs the real risk tolerance and can lead to fear and emotional decision-making.
